Baltimore Ravens rookie wide receiver Ja'Kobi Lane is expected to undergo wrist surgery following the team's 41-23 Week 1 win over the Indianapolis Colts, but the injury may not keep him sidelined for long.

CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz reported Tuesday via X, formerly known as Twitter, that Lane could undergo the procedure as soon as Wednesday.

“#Ravens promising rookie wide receiver Ja’Kobi Lane (wrist) is currently expected to undergo surgery in the coming days, potentially as soon as tomorrow, sources tell @CBSSports.

“The current hope, per sources, is for him to be able to return in around a month.”

A potential one-month recovery timeline provides a silver lining for Baltimore after Lane sustained the injury early in his rookie season. The 22-year-old made his NFL debut against Indianapolis after the Ravens selected him with the No. 80 overall pick in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft.

Lane recorded one reception for 11 yards on three targets in his first regular-season appearance.

Ravens' WR depth tested with Ja'Kobi Lane, Zay Flowers injuries

His expected absence comes as Baltimore is also monitoring star wide receiver Zay Flowers, who is dealing with another hamstring issue. Flowers' injury cut short an impressive performance against the Colts after he caught five of six targets for 150 yards and a touchdown.

Flowers provided one of Baltimore's biggest offensive plays with a 54-yard touchdown reception before leaving the game.

The uncertainty surrounding Flowers and Lane could test the Ravens' wide receiver depth in the early portion of the season. However, the initial timetable surrounding Lane offers optimism that the rookie could return without missing an extended portion of his first NFL campaign.

Baltimore will return home for its Week 2 matchup against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET on CBS. The Saints enter the matchup at 0-1, while the Ravens will look to build on their season-opening victory.

Lane's recovery will now become another injury situation for Baltimore to monitor as the team moves deeper into its early-season schedule.
