Scottie Barnes found a way to steal the spotlight from Kawhi Leonard without saying a word. During a live report from the Toronto Raptors' practice facility, CTV News Toronto sports reporter Sean Leathong was discussing Leonard’s $115 million extension when Barnes casually walked into the shot with his lunch in hand.
Barnes was not exactly trying to stay out of the way, either. The Raptors forward stood behind Leathong and started eating while looking directly into the camera.
He made a few playful faces and continued enjoying his meal as Leathong carried on with his report, apparently unaware that Barnes was turning the segment into his own comedy show.
“Nah,” he reportedly said when Leathong asked his opinion on the contract extension. “I’ll just be back here.”

The clip quickly made its way across social media, with fans enjoying Barnes' decision to fully commit to the unexpected TV appearance.
It was a fitting moment for a player who has become one of the most recognizable faces in Toronto. Barnes was selected No. 4 overall by the Raptors in 2021 and won Rookie of the Year in 2022. He also made his first All-Star team in 2024.
Now, Barnes enters another season as a key part of Toronto's plans alongside RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley. The Raptors are coming off a season in which they continued developing their young core, with Barnes expected to remain at the center of the team's offense.
Additionally, Leonard's return gives Toronto plenty to discuss ahead of the 2026-27 season. Leonard is coming off a strong 2025-26 campaign in which he averaged 27.9 points in 65 games.
The Raptors will now have to figure out how Leonard fits alongside Barnes and Barrett. Leonard and Barnes both do much of their work in the short midrange, which could make spacing an important part of Darko Rajakovic's rotation plans.
