The dejection was palpable among Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday after wasting a double-digit lead and losing to the Denver Broncos, 30-26, at Empower Field at Mile High.
The Rams held a 16-point advantage at halftime, but they allowed the Broncos to mount a furious rally and steal the win. Denver scored 30 points in the second half, including the game-winning touchdown by Bo Nix.
Los Angeles had control of the game before sputtering in the fourth quarter. In the process, the team earned an unwanted distinction, as reported by Rams Wire's Cameron DaSilva.
“The Rams are only the 11th team in NFL history to lose a game where they had at least 480 yards on offense and allowed 260 or fewer yards on defense,” wrote DaSilva on X.
Stafford went 30-of-55 for 390 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions, including a pick-six to Talanoa Hufanga in the final quarter. The reigning MVP was sacked four times.
Davante Adams had seven receptions for 137 yards, while Kyren Williams logged 15 carries for 88 yards.
The Rams will visit the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 4.
