The Las Vegas Raiders may be just days away from unleashing their most dangerous offensive weapon. After Las Vegas defeated the Los Angeles Chargers 26-14 at SoFi Stadium, head coach Klint Kubiak revealed that Brock Bowers was “very close” to making his 2026 debut. Bowers reportedly participated in a pregame workout Sunday but ultimately remained inactive.

The tight end underwent a minor meniscus trim on his left knee shortly before the season opener. That forced him to miss Week 1 before being listed as doubtful for the Chargers matchup. However, Bowers returned to practice in a limited capacity late last week. He has continued progressing ahead of schedule. Kubiak’s recelation that Bowers nearly played provides an encouraging indication that the All-Pro caliber tight end could finally suit up when Las Vegas travels to face the New Orleans Saints in Week 3.

The Raiders have tried to manage without him. Kirk Cousins has efficiently directed the offense. Ashton Jeanty and Michael Mayer have made significant contributions. Adding Bowers to Kubiak’s multi-tight end formations, however, would give Las Vegas another elite mismatch and a trusted target between the hashes.

The Raiders enter Week 3 at 2–0 after following their opening-week victory over Miami with another impressive road win. Cousins has provided stability under center. Jeanty and a physical offensive line have helped establish a balanced, clock-controlling attack. Defensively, Las Vegas continued its strong start by disrupting Justin Herbert and forcing key turnovers. The defense has set the tone, and the offense has already functioned efficiently. Still, Bowers’ potential return could raise the ceiling even further. If his progress continues throughout the week, the undefeated Raiders could welcome their biggest offensive addition yet in New Orleans.
