The Las Vegas Raiders got a solid-yet-unspectacular performance from their revamped offense in a 27-13 win over the Miami Dolphins that included three touchdown passes from Kirk Cousins, including the 300th of his career to running back Ashton Jeanty.

Coach Klint Kubiak's team started off strong but didn't score a point in the fourth quarter in a game that did not include their best pass catcher, injured tight end Brock Bowers.

Following the game, Kubiak discussed what he was disappointed by in his first outing as Raiders head coach, pointing the finger at one specific area.

“Not happy with how we played the game offensively in that second half, and we have a lot to get better at,” Kubiak said, according to ESPN's Ryan McFadden.

Cousins played the entire game while top 2026 NFL Draft pick Fernando Mendoza watched from the sidelines. He threw two interceptions and completed 21-of-30 passes for 160 yards, spreading the ball around to six different receivers with Bowers still sidelined. He got help from Jeanty in the backfield as the former first-round pick rushed for 102 yards on 23 attempts and caught six passes for 45 yards.

The Raiders' offense will likely need to play a much more complete game against Jim Harbaugh's Los Angeles Chargers on September 20, with Mike McDaniel leading a more creative offensive attack. Cousins managed the game well against an overmatched Dolphins team, but his mistakes and lack of passing yardage stand out among an otherwise solid day from the veteran quarterback.

Kubiak is regarded as one of the NFL's best offensive minds, and won't accept anything less than excellence going forward. Next week has the makings of a potential shootout, but feels like it could be a runaway Chargers victory if the Raiders don't play better with the expected step up in competition that isn't far off in Los Angeles.
