Rookie cornerback Hezekiah Masses had a hand in helping the Raiders move to 2-0 in Sunday’s win over the Chargers.
Masses had a pair of interceptions of Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert in the Raiders’ 26-14 win. He is the seventh Raiders rookie with two interceptions in a game and the first to accomplish the feat since 1979.
Masses also had five tackles and a tackle for loss in the victory.
The NFL announced on Wednesday that Masses has been named the AFC defensive player of the week as a result of his performance. The fifth-round pick is the first Raiders rookie to take the honor since Maxx Crosby in 2019.
