Following Prairie View A&M's shocking loss to Southern University on Saturday, Tremaine Jackson is doing a staff shakeup, per a report by Zach Barnett of Football Scoop. Jackson has dismissed offensive coordinator Christopher Buckner and defensive backs coach Darren Garrigan. Jackson has promoted Clifford Fedd, who currently serves as running backs coach, to call offensive plays, and has tasked defensive coordinator Brandon Angerson and defensive analyst Frank Whirley with coaching defensive backs.

This comes as Prairie View A&M has had a surprisingly underwhelming season by last year's standards, while the Panthers had an impressive showing against Towson State and blew out Texas Southern 52-14 in the Labor Day Classic. They've only won one of their last four FCS games, including a loss to Mississippi Valley State, where they gave up a 24-point lead.

On Monday's SWAC coaches' call, Jackson discussed the loss and said nothing has changed in his team's standard.

“Nothing's changed from an urgency standpoint. I'm the only coach around in this league….Since 2023, I've been living in a place where, if you don't win, bad things are going to happen, because of where I came from and walking in the door. Since 2023, I don't know what it's like not to hold the trophy up at the end, so we walked in the door urgent. It remains the same right now, and we still have an opportunity. My staff is urgent because we've been living like this since 2023 in two different areas. That's all we know. It's all we know. I don't know anything else.”
