Mason Heintschel has achieved another milestone in his standout season with the Pittsburgh Panthers.

On Saturday against Bucknell, the Pitt quarterback made ACC history. He threw six touchdown passes in the Panthers’ 59-0 win at Acrisure Stadium. Heintschel is now the first player in ACC history to have more than one game in a season with at least six touchdown passes.

ESPN Insights shared Heintschel’s historic game on social media. He is the first FBS player since 2021 to have more than one game in a season with at least six touchdown passes. Before Heintschel, C.J. Stroud and Bailey Zappe were the last to achieve this.

Earlier this season, the sophomore quarterback made history by throwing seven touchdown passes in Pitt’s 59-14 win over Miami (Ohio). This game opened the season and set a new ACC single-game record for touchdown passes. It also marked a strong start to his second year.

Heintschel’s recent game also puts him among a select group in ACC history. ESPN Insights notes he is just the second player in the conference to have more than one game with six or more touchdown passes. The only other player to do this was former Clemson star Deshaun Watson. Watson had six-touchdown games in 2014 and 2016.

With six touchdown passes against Bucknell, Heintschel now has 13 touchdown passes in four games this season. He came into the game with seven touchdowns. In Pitt’s first three games, he threw for 788 yards.

After a quieter game in Pitt’s 27-13 ACC-opening win over Syracuse, Heintschel bounced back with a record-setting performance against Bucknell. The Panthers are now 4-0, and their sophomore quarterback is proving to be one of the ACC's top passers.
