The Philadelphia Phillies are preparing for a postseason push, but they will be without an impactful pitcher during the stretch run. Right-handed reliever Caleb Kilian had previously resumed throwing after being shut down due to a left oblique strain, but he was recently moved to the 60-day injured list and will not pitch again during the 2026 regular season, MLB.com reports.

Kilian was transferred to the 60-day IL on Thursday. He initially landed on the injured list on August 10.

The 29-year-old began the season with the San Francisco Giants. He was sent to the Phillies as part of the Luis Arraez trade. He turned in a 4.26 ERA across 45 outings with San Francisco before the trade. With Philadelphia, however, he recorded a lackluster 13.50 ERA in four appearances before getting injured.

The 85-68 Phillies are currently in second place in the National League East standings, trailing the Atlanta Braves by four games at the moment. Philadelphia and the Chicago Cubs have the same exact record and are tied for the NL Wild Card lead. Winning the division is the goal, of course, but at least earning the top Wild Card position is also a priority.

Philadelphia began a four-game series with the New York Mets on Thursday, as the ball club earned a 3-0 win. The Mets have endured a forgettable season and this series represents an opportunity for the Phillies to build serious momentum as the postseason draws near. Friday night's game between the NL East rivals is scheduled for 7:15 PM ET in New York.
