New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye might be without one of his key protectors, Michael Onwenu, for some time. The club's starting right guard suffered an apparent serious ankle injury during the Week 2 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers after he attempted to undercut T.J. Watt.
The cart was brought out almost immediately for the 28-year-old, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz. Considering he needed to be carted off, the injury Onwenu sustained appears to be severe.
You can see on the play that the Steelers superstar T.J. Watt fell right into the back of Onwenu's legs after missing a sack attempt on Drake Maye, per Zack Cox. The seven-year veteran fell awkwardly on the play, and it appeared his ankle was twisted in another direction (viewer warning for video below).

The Patriots quickly ruled Michael Onwenu out for the remainder of the contest, according to Mark Daniels of MassLive.com. New England will evaluate the former sixth-round pick before determining how much time he may miss.
