Randi Mahomes has had to endure the nightmare of seeing her son get hurt.
The legendary QB's 2025 season was cut short by tearing his left ACL and LCL in December.
The three-time Super Bowl champion has fought his way back for Week 1, and Randi revealed that it wasn't plain sailing.
âÂÂIt is a lot,â she said, via Starcade Media. âÂÂIt's finally when I'm like, smooth it out, rolling, then I'm like, âÂÂOkay, what is God handing us now?'
âÂÂBut it's only made him stronger. It's made him focused in different areas that maybe he wasn't focused on before.âÂÂ
Mahomes underwent surgery on December 15 and has spent months in a grueling rehab regimen.
Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid revealed his QB spent seven hours a day working on his body to ensure his recovery was ahead of schedule.
"He just goes. He kept playing, he gets his rehab taken care of before and after practice, you know how he is â he's all in," said Big Red. "He didn't go anywhere. Seven hours a day, he was there working...and it pays off for him."
One of the first tests of his hard work was at teammate Travis Kelce's wedding.
Mahomes hit the dance floor after Kelce tied the knot with Taylor Swift and had to hide away from Reid.
"I stayed away from Coach Reid," he said. "I saw him early, I went and did the hellos, and the music started, and I went and found a corner in the back.
"And that was part of my rehab process, was to see my dance moves on the floor."
Patrick Mahomes' O-line already banged up
The real test will be the Denver Broncos defense in a tough clash at Arrowhead Stadium.
With starting left tackle Josh Simmons injured, undrafted rookie Kahlil Benson is expected to make his first NFL start.
Not ideal when your star quarterback will not have full mobility.
"He's done a nice job for us," Reid said of Benson, per ESPN's Nate Taylor. "He's obviously shown us that he has the ability to play. We wouldn't put him in there if we didn't think that.
"We've all been through that. I think when we first got hired, we thought we probably were pretty good at it, so I want his confidence to be that and go out and play and just use his abilities."
Benson will have to step up, otherwise he may be dealing with Randi.
