On Sunday afternoon, the Carolina Panthers hit the field at home for a game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, looking to increase their lead in the NFC South after a 3-2 start to the season. Instead, the Panthers turned in their worst half of football in quite some time, trailing 33-6 at the end of the first half in front of a stunned home crowd.

Things went from bad to worse with a crucial injury update in this one.

“The Panthers' sideline reports that RT Taylor Moton, who was driven off the field on a cart, has an ankle injury and is questionable to return. He has been replaced by rookie Monroe Freeling, who started the first four games of the season,” reported Scott Smith of the Buccaneers on X, formerly Twitter.

It was certainly a scary sight when Moton was carted off the field, although the fact that he is questionable to return at least signals that it likely isn't anything as severe as it initially appeared.

The Buccaneers entered this game at 1-5, although they did get quarterback Baker Mayfield back in this one after he missed multiple games due to an injury. Mayfield sure looked fully healthy to start out this one, with Tampa Bay putting 26 points on the board in the second quarter alone.

Meanwhile, essentially everything that could have gone wrong did go wrong for the Panthers in the first half, with the team looking listless after defeating the Philadelphia Eagles on the road last week.

The Panthers will look to bounce back next week vs the Green Bay Packers.
