Carolina Panthers wide receiver Jalen Coker's Week 3 status took a concerning turn Thursday as he missed practice with an ankle injury ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Cleveland Browns.
Coker was a limited participant Wednesday before missing Thursday's session. The third-year wideout has been dealing with the ankle sprain since Carolina's regular-season opener against the Chicago Bears, when he set career highs with 138 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Despite the injury, Coker played in the Panthers' Week 2 win over the Atlanta Falcons. He finished that game with 66 yards on eight receptions and also returned two punts for 49 yards.
Coker was not the only Panthers wideout absent on Thursday. Xavier Legette was also held out because of a knee injury. Legette was not included on Wednesday's injury report and had a 55-yard reception in Carolina's Week 2 win.
The Panthers also had three defensive players miss practice for a second consecutive day. Linebacker Devin Lloyd (calf), linebacker Claudin Cherelus (shoulder), and safety Nick Scott (rib) were all non-participants Thursday.
Several other players listed on the injury report were full participants. Linebacker Jaelan Phillips returned to full practice after sitting out Wednesday with a back issue, while defensive tackle Bobby Brown III and outside linebacker Patrick Jones II were full participants for the second straight day with back injuries.
Tight end Darren Waller, who was listed as out Wednesday for rest, also returned as a full participant Thursday.
