The Carolina Panthers have moved on from wide receiver Jimmy Horn Jr. following a costly mistake in their 59-37 Week 1 loss to the Chicago Bears on Sunday.

Carolina waived Horn, a sixth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft out of Colorado, on Tuesday. Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team reported the roster move on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“The #Panthers have waived WR Jimmy Horn Jr., their 6th-round pick in 2025 out of Colorado.

“He muffed a punt on Sunday vs. Chicago.”

Horn's special teams mistake came during a difficult season opener for Carolina, which allowed 59 points against Chicago. His departure ends his stint with the Panthers after the organization selected him late in the 2025 draft.

The former Colorado receiver entered the NFL after playing alongside Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders during his collegiate career. Horn provided Carolina with additional depth at wide receiver and an option in the return game, but the Panthers opted to make a change immediately following their Week 1 defeat.

Carolina will now attempt to rebound from the lopsided loss as it prepares for its first road trip of the 2026 season.

The Panthers will begin a two-game road swing against the Atlanta Falcons, who also enter Week 2 with an 0-1 record. Carolina and Atlanta will meet Sunday at 1 p.m. ET on FOX.

After allowing 59 points in its opener, Carolina will look for its first victory of the season while adjusting its roster following Horn's departure.
