Even though Jayden Reed missed half of the 2025 campaign, the Green Bay Packers felt comfortable with signing the crafty wide receiver to a three-year, $50 million contract extension in April. They believe he can help them compete at a high level for the seasons to come, but the latest update adds a significant amount of uneasiness regarding his 2026 status.
“I'm told evaluations continued throughout the course of this week, {and} there is no timeline for his return,” James Palmer told NFL on Prime video's Charissa Thompson before Thursday's home matchup versus the Atlanta Falcons. “It potentially being season-ending is still in play.”
Reed was carted off the field with a neck injury during last Sunday's 20-17 overtime victory over the New York Jets. The Packers will probably want to exercise caution, and that could mean Reed has to wait until 2027 before rejoining the offense. This is obviously devastating news for the fourth-year pass-catcher, and it piles on top of the brutal injury problems Green Bay is already enduring.
