The Green Bay Packers are one team that has continued to deal with injuries throughout the season, and it didn't get better during their loss to the Detroit Lions. Both of their centers were injured in the game, as Sean Rhyan left on the first drive of the game after Josh Jacobs fell on the back of his legs.
Jacob Monk came in to replace him, but then he suffered an injury to his quad. That's not the best news for the Packers on a short week, and it looks like they'll be playing their third-string center after Monk's latest update, according to ESPN's Rob Demovsky
“Jacob Monk (quad) goes to IR and Mekhi Becton Sr. signed to the active roster from the practice squad,” Demovsky wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
After Monk and Rhyan went down, John Williams had to step in at center against the Lions. It was the first NFL snaps of his career, and he did the best he could with the situation the Packers were in.
“I can't say enough about the job John Williams did, coming in in a hostile environment, handling the operation, the communication. To lose two guys at center that quickly in the game was a little terrifying, but I thought he did a really good job,” LaFleur said.
Article Continues BelowThe good news for Williams is that he'll have more of a chance to get prepared for their next game, as the Packers face the Carolina Panthers on Thursday Night Football.
The Packers' offensive line has been through injuries this season, and they're just looking to find some consistency at some point.
