On Sunday afternoon, the Green Bay Packers got back into the win column with an ugly road win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers by a score of 17-14. It wasn't exactly a performance to write home about against a Buccaneers team dealing with multiple key injuries, but the Packers are now back to .500 on the season.
Unfortunately, Green Bay didn't make it through this game unscathed from an injury perspective, as linebacker Edgerrin Cooper had to be carted off after suffering a non-contact injury at one point.
Now, the team has gotten a tough injury update on Cooper.
“Source: Tests confirmed that Packers LB Edgerrin Cooper tore his Achilles,” reported NFL insider Adam Schefter of ESPN on X, formerly Twitter.
Article Continues BelowIt's certainly a tough injury update for the Packers, as Cooper is one of the stalwarts of their defense. Cooper will now almost assuredly miss the rest of the season due to the injury, and the team can only hope that his recovery process will allow him to be back in time for the beginning of the 2027 campaign.
Cooper isn't the only absence that the Packers are dealing with, as Green Bay is also still missing multiple members of its offensive line, as well as running back Josh Jacobs, who remains on the Commissioner's Exempt list as the NFL reviews his recent court case.
In any case, the Packers will now have to soldier on without Cooper in the lineup. They will next hit the field next Sunday for a home game vs the Chicago Bears.
