The Green Bay Packers are having a dreadful start to the 2026 season. Green Bay got smacked around by Atlanta 35-14 on Thursday Night Football in a game that had fans booing at Lambeau Field. It should be no surprise to learn that Green Bay's start is one of the worst by the franchise in several years.
ESPN's Adam Schefter explained that the Packers are in their worst stretch in nearly a decade after starting the season 1-2.
“The Packers have lost two of their first three games this season by 17+ points,” Schefter wrote on Friday on social media. “They had not lost multiple games by 17+ points in an entire season since 2017.”
Green Bay lost in Week 1 by 17 points after surrendering 22 consecutive points in the fourth quarter against Minnesota. But Thursday's 21-point was by far the worse performance.
Packers fans have plenty of reason to be worried about the 2026 season so far. Micah Parsons is still on the sideline recovering from his ACL injury. Josh Jacobs is on the commissioner's exempt list with no clarity on when he'll return to the team. And the product on the field itself has not been up to the team's usual standard.
But the Packers are not hopelessly adrift even after Thursday's embarrassing loss. Green Bay is only a few games back in the NFC North with plenty of divisional matchups still to come. If the Packers can turn things around soon, they'll have plenty of time to rescue their season. That said, Packers fans do have some significant causes for concern right now.
It will be interesting to see how Green Bay bounces back in Week 3. Especially after such a tough loss in front of their home crowd.
