The Oregon Ducks' College Football Playoff hopes are looking longer after a shocking 39-31 road loss to Oklahoma State that led to criticism of Dan Lanning and his starting quarterback Dante Moore, whose choices were questioned after he missed a post-game press conference.

Lanning fielded a question about Moore's absence, which caused him to set the record straight in heated fashion.

“I don't think he chose not to (attend), did you know he was getting an IV? He was getting two IVs after the game, he was dehydrated,” Lanning said. “But I don't know, have you ever given an interview while you're getting an IV at the same time and getting treatment? Yeah, but does that make a little more sense?”

Lanning said Moore was cramping up on the field, which led him to get treatment immediately after the game. He reminded media that Moore would be available to speak to them soon and accused one member of misconstruing the situation before making a sarcastic “good job” comment.

Lanning and his Ducks will have a chance to blow off some steam on Friday, September 18, against Portland State, which could lead to a blowout based on what the oddsmakers expect. The Ducks opened as a 58.5-point favorite, according to FanDuel Sportsbook, and will look to restore confidence on the field leading up to their showdown with USC on September 26.

Oregon is near the bottom of Week 3's power rankings among top 25 teams, a distinction Lanning and Moore know is not befitting of the talent on their team. If Moore and the Ducks can get healthy soon, their Week 2 stumble against the Beavers will almost certainly end up looking like an anomaly.
