India Under-19 8 for 0 (Raichandani 8*) trail Australia Under-19 217 (Cattle 102, Hollick 59, Om 5-53, Ulva 3-37) by 209 runs
A century from Blake Cattle and a patient fifty from Zed Hollick seemed to rescue Australia Under-19 from 27 for 3 on day one of the first Youth Test in Rajkot but India Under-19 hit back to grab 7 for 43 and bowl the visitors out for 217.
Left-arm spinner Ishan Om gobbled the tail up to finish with 5 for 53, while right-arm seamer Mohit Ulva, who had reduced Australia Under-19 to 7 for 2 after they opted to bat first, got 3 for 37.
Cattle and Hollick added 147 for the fourth wicket after India Under-19 struck thrice in the first 13 overs. Cattle was the first to get to fifty, which he reached off a boundary off Om in the 40th over. By the time Hollick got there, 16 overs later, Australia Under-19 looked solid. But after a wicketless second session, Ulva broke the stand by having Hollick caught behind for 59 off 160 in the 65th over to trigger a collapse.
Cattle then raised his hundred, but fell to Yashbardhan Chauhan soon after. Eli Brain, who came out at No. 6, remained not out on 25 even as he kept losing partners.
India Under-19 batted for one over before stumps, and Lakshya Raichandani hit Kasey Barton for two boundaries in it.
