The Oklahoma Sooners have moved on from Ben Arbuckle after announcing the firing of their offensive coordinator on Monday. Hours after the decision was announced, head coach Brent Venables issued an official statement regarding the situation.
Venables admitted that letting Arbuckle go came down to what he feels is best for the Sooners football program, according to Pete Nakos of On3 Sports. The 55-year-old also thanked Arbuckle for his time working as Oklahoma's offensive coordinator and wished him the best of luck moving forward in his career.
“I have decided to make a change at offensive coordinator. My responsibility is to the whole team and what I believe is best for us right now. We need a change,” Venables said. “I believe we still have meaningful opportunities ahead and a responsibility to maximize them. Our expectations remain high, and our commitment to meeting them is unwavering.
