Ohio State allowed Texas to come back from 20-points down in the fourth quarter on the way to a 24-23 loss. The Buckeyes had plenty of chances to put the game away, but Julian Sayin and the offense could not pull it off. Sayin took some blame after the loss and was honest about his play.

Now, Sayin is putting some silver lining on the loss, per Lyle Alenstein of Eleven Warriors.

“How can we move forward as an offense? How can we correct our mistakes, see what we did wrong, and try to improve those, and make sure this doesn't happen again? And so I think we have a good group of guys on our team, and I think we can use this fuel. Got a group of guys, and I got a lot of confidence in them,” Sayin said.

Part of the improvement for Sayin will be keeping him protected. He was pressured on 15 of his 36 dropbacks, and completed just four of 12 passes. He was not perfect wth a clear pocket, going 13 for 20 for 187 yards with a touchdown and an interception, but he was better when he got protection. Sayin also needs to look at spreading the ball around more. Jeremiah Smith led the team with 16 targets and eight receptions. Running back Bo Jackson was second with five targets in the game. Sayin also spoke about spreading the ball around.

“Their practice habits have created a lot of confidence for me and them … I think there was opportunities on Saturday where maybe I could have gotten the ball a bit more.”

Despite the loss, Ohio State is still one of the top teams in the nation. They return to the field at home on Saturday against Kent State.
