North Carolina A&T emerged as a power in HBCU football a few years ago, but the program has stumbled recently. Head coach Shawn Gibbs was brought in to restore the winning culture of the mid-2010s. After a disappointing first season with the Aggies, Gibbs's plan is starting to take shape.
North Carolina A&T pulled off a win against a ranked opponent, the University of Rhode Island, which entered the matchup at No. 19. The Aggies won 22-18 before falling to Bryant University 31-30 the following week. North Carolina A&T returned to Greensboro and faced the University of New Hampshire, winning 30-27 in a tight overtime contest.
North Carolina A&T jumped out to an early 14-7 lead after JT Smith punched in a 1-yard touchdown run on a 5-play, 71-yard drive. New Hampshire immediately responded when Brooks Bentley threw a 75-yard pass to Perez Logan for a touchdown, tying the game 14-14 in the second quarter. North Carolina A&T regained the lead late in the second quarter when Kevin White found Michael Carlock Williams for a 32-yard touchdown, 21-14. Heading into the half, North Carolina A&T was up 21-17 after a successful field goal by New Hampshire
At the end of the third quarter, the University of New Hampshire regained the lead when Brooks Bentley found Perez again for a 21-yard touchdown, 24-21. Lucas Glassburn's 26-yard field goal put New Hampshire up 27-21 with 1 minute and 40 seconds left. North Carolina A&T ultimately put together a 16-play, 75-yard drive that ended with White finding Elijah Kennedy for a 19-yard touchdown pass to tie the game at 27.

North Carolina A&T put together a quick drive, specifically predicated on runs, to put Asher Holland in position to sink a 34-yard field goal that ultimately won them the game.
North Carolina A&T now picks up its second win in the CAA after being projected as one of the conference's worst teams in the predicted order of finish. Now they play an upstart Chicago State University team that they're hosting in Greensboro before facing Elon University in their Centennial Homecoming celebration.
