The Baltimore Ravens need to get back in the win column in Week 3. Baltimore completely collapsed against New Orleans and fell to 1-1 on the year. Hopefully the Ravens can get a boost in Week 3 by getting one defensive star back from injury.
Ravens defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver sounds very excited to get Nnamdi Madubuike back on the field. He even decided to hit Madubuike with a Jerry Maguire line during Wednesday's practice.
“He's gonna make everybody around him better,” Weavers said about Madubuike on Thursday, via ESPN's Jamison Hensley. “I told him yesterday when I saw him out there and he was just feeling free and I could see him playing with some comfort. I give him the old Jerry Maguire line and go ‘you complete me.' You make me whole. So I'm just excited to see him play.
The 28-year-old defensive tackle participated fully at Wednesday's practice. It is the first time he has made it through a full practice after suffered a season-ending neck injury in 2025.
Hensley added that it looks like Madubuike will make his 2026 debut in Week 3. There is still no guarantee that Madubuike will play this weekend. However, the fact that he is so close to returning is incredible news.
Weaver explained that Madubuike's teammates are also excited to get him back. They've seen all the hard work he's put into the recovery process over the past year.
“I know all his teammates are excited for him to go out there and play just [because] they've seen the work that has been put forth to get to this point,” Weaver added. “We're always cheering for him and excited to see him get out there on the field.”
Baltimore's defense could get a lot better if Madubike can return to his 2023 form. He logged 13 sacks with two forced fumbles during that breakout campaign.
It will be exciting to see if Madubuike finally makes his return for Baltimore this weekend.
