On Monday evening, the Kansas City Chiefs got off to a strong start to their season with a 31-10 home win over the Denver Broncos. This game marked the return of quarterback Patrick Mahomes after he spent the offseason rehabbing a torn ACL he suffered toward the end of last season.

While he didn't look quite like himself for most of the night on Monday, that didn't stop sports media personality and noted Chiefs fanatic Nick Wright from heaping praise on him on Tuesday.

“His LeBron-esque ability to recover from injury and to attack this rehab was unlike anything I have ever seen…” said Wright, per the Dan Patrick Show on X, formerly Twitter.

While Mahomes is far from the first player in the NFL to recover from an ACL injury in a similar matter of time, his name recognition, as well as the fact that he is playing the most important position on the field for a team that fancies itself a Super Bowl contender, both added to the hype leading up to his return on Monday.

Mahomes struggled to get into a rhythm for most of the night, including tossing an ugly interception in the third quarter, but the Chiefs' running game, led by reigning Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III, was stellar all night. The team's defense also showed up to play, with rookie cornerback Mansoor Delane intercepting the very first pass thrown by Broncos quarterback Bo Nix.

All told, the Chiefs certainly looked like a team ready to reestablish themselves as Super Bowl contenders this year.

Kansas City will next take the field on Sunday at home against the Indianapolis Colts.
