The NFL Players Association announced on Friday that Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders has been named their Community MVP for Week 3.
Sanders was recognized after visiting a pair of East Cleveland public schools. Sanders donated and distributed 500 backpacks filled with school supplies during visits that also featured pizza and ice cream for those in attendance.
“I truly believe in perfect timing, and being named Community MVP means a lot,” Sanders said. “What matters most is those kids knowing they are seen, they are heard and they are felt. If that gives them a little more motivation to keep showing up, then we did our job.”
The NFLPA will donate $10,000 to Sanders’s foundation and he’ll join the other weekly honorees in being eligible for the Alan Page Award at the end of the year.
