With the Jacksonville Jaguars once again fighting for a spot in the NFL Playoffs this season, the team is looking at ways to improve the roster. Jacksonville could be trading wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. before the league's trade deadline, according to a new report.

“The Jaguars have been fending off trade interest in WR Brian Thomas Jr. for over a year. But the former first-round pick’s recent benching and ongoing struggles have ramped up belief within the league that Jacksonville will move him by the deadline,” NFL insider Tom Pelissero posted to X, formerly Twitter.

This season, Thomas has posted just nine receptions for 105 yards and a touchdown catch. He was selected 23rd overall in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Thomas had an outstanding rookie season with Jacksonville in 2024. He finished his first NFL campaign with 1,282 receiving yards, and 10 touchdown catches. His production has declined since then.

This season, the Jaguars hold a 4-2 record in the AFC South. Jacksonville leads the division. It has been hard this year for Thomas to find targets and receptions.

“I feel like I still know what I can do, I just have to go out there and do it,” Thomas said recently to The Florida Times-Union. “Show everybody what I can do.”

Jacksonville has been a sharp team in the AFC since the start of the 2025 campaign. Thomas hasn't been much of a part of the team's success. In 2025, he posted just 707 receiving yards.

Time will tell if Thomas does get traded. It certainly isn't a good sign for him that he has been benched. It just takes one breakout game though to get him back in Jacksonville's good graces.

Jacksonville next plays the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. The NFL Trade Deadline is November 10.
