As the Kansas City Chiefs were on the wrong side of a blowout last Sunday night against the Seattle Seahawks, the sports world is wondering how the franchise will address the team ahead of the trade deadline on Nov. 10. While trade rumors will surround the Chiefs until then, a former player turned analyst gave an option that could be out there after recent moves.

The Indianapolis Colts have been sellers, judged by the recent deals to move on from offensive lineman Quenton Nelson and defensive lineman DeForest Buckner. With others speculating about what could be next amid a potential fire sale, Jeff Saturday would speak on wide receiver Josh Downs being a name that could help the Chiefs in their search for a productive pass-catcher.

“Let me say a name: Josh Downs, Indianapolis Colts. I'm telling you, he played at Carolina. My son actually played with him. Said he is one of the smartest players he's ever been around,” Saturday said, via ESPN. “I would tell you, I have watched him. This kid can ball, bro. Travis Kelce-ish, meaning this: he finds his place in the offense. He runs great routes, but he understands where to be. He sees it really quickly.”

The Chiefs are expected to be buyers ahead of the trade deadline

So far this season with the Colts, Downs has recorded 307 yards on 26 catches in seven games, but he could potentially find himself with quarterback Patrick Mahomes as he's on a quest for his fourth Super Bowl. NFL insider Ian Rapoport said that he expects the Chiefs to be buyers ahead of the deadline and that a receiver will be a target.

“I would expect them to have conversations surrounding a receiver,” Rapoport said. “We'll see what kind. It's not like Justin Jefferson is out there. Tyreek Hill, not healthy enough, and there's obviously all the off-the-field stuff. So I would expect him to target a receiver. We'll see at what level.”

At any rate, it remains to be seen who Kansas City will go after and if Downs will be a player that Indianapolis makes available.
