49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk was one of the players fined by the NFL for mimicking drinking a beer during celebrations earlier this season, but he won’t have to pay it.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Juszczyk’s fine has been rescinded after an appeal. Juszczyk argued that he has done the celebration throughout his career without receiving any discipline for the act and that it references his nickname “Juice” rather than the alcoholic beverage.
It appears that point was central to the decision to overturn the fine as the league said they came to the decision “because his celebration was simulating drinking a juice box, not a beer.” Schefter also notes that Juszczyk pointed out the “hypocritical” nature of the league fining a player for drinking a beer while also receiving sponsorships from beer companies.
Colts guard Matt Goncalves was fined for the same reason, but there’s been no word of any change to his punishment.
