The 2026 NFL season has yet to hit the midway point.

But some teams — and their fans — are already thinking about the 2027 NFL Draft.

There is a long way to go until the league descends upon the nation’s capital for the annual player entry draft, and many — many — mock drafts to come until then. And while the final order for the 2027 NFL Draft is far from finalized, some teams are already sitting in a very good position due to previous trades.

In fact three teams (the New York Jets, the Cleveland Browns, and the Tennessee Titans) already have multiple picks in the first round of the 2027 NFL Draft.

Will more teams join them as we approach the annual trade deadline?

Here is how the first round currently stands, as well as a look at the teams with multiple first-round picks, and how they got there.

The current first-round order

Here is how the first round of the 2027 NFL Draft currently stands, bearing in mind there is a long way to go until this order is finalized:

Again, this is before all the games in Week 7 are played, so there is a long way to go until this order is finalized.

But if the draft were held today, the Chargers would have the first pick.

And the Jets would have three in the top 12.

Why the Jets, Browns, and Titans could control the 2027 NFL Draft

Ahead of the NFL’s 2026 trade deadline three teams — the Jets, Browns, and Titans — have multiple first-round picks.

Here is how they got them.

Cleveland Browns

At the moment the Browns have a pair of picks in the first round of the 2027 NFL Draft. One is their own, which with Cleveland entering Week 7 with a 5-2 record, slots in at No. 26 for the moment.

The other comes from the Los Angeles Rams, courtesy of this summer’s Myles Garrett trade. In that deal the Browns traded Garrett to the Rams in exchange for Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round pick, and a 2029 conditional round pick (either a third-round pick, or a first-round pick if the Rams were to trade Garrett to a team in the AFC North).

With the Rams entering Week 7 with a 3-4 record, that pick slots in at No. 14 for the moment.

Tennessee Titans

Like the Browns, the Titans currently hold a pair of picks in the first round of the 2027 NFL Draft. one is their own, which would be No. 2 as the Titans etner Week 7 with a 1-6 record.

The other? That comes from the Chicago Bears, thanks to Thursday’s trade involving defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons. In that deal the Bears acquired Simmons and a 2028 fifth-round pick in exchange for a 2027 first-round pick, a 2027 fourth-round pick, and a 2028 first-round pick.

With Chicago currently 5-2, the Bears’ pick is at No. 28 at the moment.

New York Jets

Then we get to the Jets, who currently hold three first-round picks in the 2027 NFL Draft.

One is their own, which slots in at No. 11 for the moment thanks to New York’s 2-5 record.

But their first, at least right now, would be at No. 7, thanks to the Indianapolis Colts. Last season the Jets traded cornerback Sauce Gardner to Indianapolis for wide receiver Adonai Mitchell, a 2026 first-round pick (which the Jets used at No. 16 to draft tight end Kenyon Sadiq), and a 2027 first-round pick.

Then their third pick comes, at least for the moment, from the Dallas Cowboys.

And this requires a bit of explaining.

The Jets also traded defensive tackle Quinnen Williams to Dallas in exchange for defensive lineman Mazi Smith, a 2026 second-round pick (which the Jets then traded to the Detroit Lions in exchange for picks at No. 50 and No. 128 last year), and a 2027 first-round pick.

But that trade happened in November, after the preseason trade involving Micah Parsons. In August of 2025, the Cowboys sent Parsons to the Packers in exchange for Kenny Clark, a 2026 first-round pick (which Dallas traded to the Philadelphia Eagles), and a 2027 first-round pick.

Returning to the trade between the Jets and the Cowboys, the Jets will receive either the Cowboys’ own first-round pick, or the pick Dallas received from Green Bay, whichever one is better.

At the moment, the Cowboys are 3-4, and after Thursday night’s win over the Carolina Panthers, the Packers are 5-3. So if the 2027 NFL Draft were to happen today, the Jets’ third pick would be the Cowboys’ own selection at No. 12, and Dallas would be on the clock with Green Bay’s pick at No. 20.
