The Green Bay Packers recently started out their season with an ugly choke job against the divisional rival Minnesota Vikings on the road. The Packers played this game without running back Josh Jacobs, who remains on the Commissioner's Exempt List after recently pleading no contest to misdemeanor charges of battery and criminal damage.

The charges stemmed from an arrest earlier this offseason following an incident with his then-girlfriend, and now a new update has come to light regarding the case.

“Attorneys representing the former girlfriend of Josh Jacobs have filed a motion to permanently seal evidence and discovery materials in the criminal case involving the Green Bay Packers running back,” reported Rob Demovsky of ESPN.

This would mean that the video of the incident would be permanently kept under wraps. The NFL is currently hoping to obtain the video as they decide on a potential suspension for Jacobs. The time he is currently spending on the Commissioner's Exempt list would end up counting toward the suspension length, per Demovsky.

The Packers certainly could have used Jacobs on the field on Sunday, as the team couldn't get much of anything going offensively in the second half, particularly in the fourth quarter, when the Vikings outscored them 22-0 en route to an improbable blowout win.

At this point, it's unclear how the sealing of the video might affect the suspension length for Jacobs.

In any case, the Packers are next set to hit the field on Sunday for a road game against the New York Jets.
