Coach Matt Rhule's Nebraska Cornhuskers are 5-2 on the season, 2-2 in the Big Ten behind starting QB Anthony Coleandrea, who beat out TJ Lateef for the starting job earlier this season. Rhule said he made a mistake he will never make again in his team's loss to Oregon on October 17, which came against his former QB Dylan Raiola.
ESPN's Pete Thamel broke the news that Coleandrea has re-signed with Nebraska for the 2027 college football season, in a deal that is expected to make him one of college football's highest paid players, according to On3's Pete Nakos.
“Nebraska QB Anthony Coleandrea has signed a deal to return to Nebraska in 2027 for his final year of eligibility, per his agent Noah Reisenfeld of 21 Sports & Entertainment,” Thamel wrote. “The signing gives Nebraska clarity at a key position and a centerpiece moving forward.”

The St. Petersburg, Florida native is a 6-foot, 200 pound senior with 1,570 passing yards, 14 touchdowns and four interceptions this season, who has also rushed 68 times for 334 yards and four touchdowns, with a long run of 51 yards.
The Cornhuskers have a big night game at home against the Washington Huskies scheduled for 8 p.m. ET on October 31, giving fans a chance to see the newly signed rising star in action against a talented Big Ten foe at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska. Coleandrea hasn't been quite as flashy as the former Huskers star Raiola, but he's solidified the position in a year when Rhule's program needed consistency at the position as much as anything else.
