The Golden State Valkyries were hit with a double whammy on Thursday, dropping Game 6 of the WNBA Finals against the Atlanta Dream, and losing guard Tiffany Hayes in the fourth quarter due to an injury. Following the game, while Hayes’ official status was still unknown, Valkyries head coach Natalie Nakase was cautiously optimistic that Hayes did not suffer anything that was potentially concerning, as per Meghan L. Hall of USA Today Sports.

“She looked good to me,” Nakase said. “She looked fine.”

While a definitive update on Tiffany Hayes’ injury status likely won’t come until possibly Friday, Valkyries fans can potentially breathe a small sigh of relief heading into Game 7. Hayes has been a critical leader with major impact for the team throughout the playoffs and into the WNBA Finals. Losing her for Game 7 would be a tremendous blow.
