The Seattle Seahawks received a major boost ahead of their Week 3 clash against the Washington Commanders, but a sudden defensive injury threatens to cloud that momentum.
Starting quarterback Sam Darnold upgraded to full participation at Thursday's practice after missing last week’s 31-7 victory against the Arizona Cardinals with a glute injury. Darnold was not the only marquee starter returning to a full workload. Wide receiver Cooper Kupp, linebacker Ernest Jones IV, running back George Holani, and fullback Brady Russell all shed their practice limitations on Thursday. Their return gives head coach Mike Macdonald’s squad a far healthier look after navigating several bumps across the opening two weeks of the regular season.
Unfortunately, the defense received discouraging news regarding its secondary. Safety Julian Love sat out practice on Thursday with a calf injury, creating immediate concern for Seattle’s defensive backfield. With backup safety Ty Okada still sidelined by a hamstring issue, the team’s safety room is getting stretched thin. Safety Nick Emmanwori stayed full-go while managing an ankle injury, but ESPN reporter Brady Henderson reported that Seattle is now trending toward a third straight start for safety Rodney Thomas II.
Here's the full Seahawks' injury report:
Jadarian Price was again limited.

Seattle's backfield depth also remains a situation to monitor heading into Friday. Rookie running back Jadarian Price remained limited for a second consecutive day while dealing with a chest injury. Price produced tough yards during the Seahawks' dominant road win in Week 2 before exiting early, leaving the coaching staff cautious about his game-day availability.
Meanwhile, defensive tackle Brandon Pili logged a limited practice session while working through a concussion and neck ailment after being added to Thursday's report.
Having Darnold back under center provides vital leadership and offensive rhythm against Washington. However, if Love cannot suit up on Sunday, the Seahawks will need their young secondary depth to step up and execute seamlessly.
