One of the Boston Celticsâ biggest offseason roster moves this year was signing big man Mitchell Robinson in free agency. Robinson played a key role during the New York Knicksâ championship win, but reportedly did not re-sign him due to salary cap concerns raised by the second apron.
As Mitchell Robinson prepares for his first season with the Celtics, he didnâÂÂt shy away from hinting that there are some aspects to his game that he has yet to show in the NBA.
âÂÂI was in the gym, hooping, doing my s**t, working out with my coach in Boston. You know what he said? He didnâÂÂt know that I had the s**t that I showed tonight. The ball-handling, the shooting, the touch, and right now IâÂÂm just so confident in myself,â Robinson said during a recent live segment on social media. âÂÂI feel like this is going to be a great year for me.âÂÂ
Article Continues BelowComing into the 2026-27 season, itâÂÂs not yet certain who will start at center for the Celtics, although it will be one of the two of either Robinson or Neemias Queta.
The No. 36 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, Robinson had played his entire career to this point with the Knicks. After battling injury issues the past couple of seasons, he was relatively healthy for the Knicks this past year, and perhaps could be ready for a regular starting role.
He appeared in 60 games, including 16 starts, at a little over 19 minutes per game. He averaged 5.7 point, 8.8 rebounds and 1.2 blocked shots with splits of 72.3 percent shooting from the field and 40.8 percent shooting from the free-throw line.
