Former Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin leveled a scathing critique of the Washington Commanders and New York Giants after their overtime contest ended in a 27-27 tie on Sunday.
Speaking on NBC's “Sunday Night Football” panel ahead of the clash between the Atlanta Falcons and Baltimore Ravens, Tomlin described the game's conclusion as “disgusting” and admitted the sequence made him physically uncomfortable.
“I'd describe it as disgusting,” he said. “You know, like, division wins are too precious in the National Football League. I was disgusted by the [Cam Sakttebo] fumble. I threw up in my mouth a little bit at the end of the game. It's just tough. We'll never know what happened.”

New York had an opportunity to win during overtime after reaching Washington's 24-yard line. However, head coach John Harbaugh opted against attempting a field goal, choosing instead to move closer to the end zone. Dominic Zvada had already missed attempts from 50, 57 and 46 yards, including another miss during overtime.
Harbaugh's decision backfired when running back Cam Skattebo coughed up the ball, allowing Commanders defensive tackle Daron Payne to force the turnover and Washington to pounce on the loose ball through Shy Tuttle.
The Commanders subsequently had their own chance to claim victory but failed to manage the closing seconds properly. With the score tied at 27 and approximately 12 seconds remaining, quarterback Jayden Daniels held onto the ball on a pass play and was tackled for no gain. Washington had exhausted its timeouts and could not stop the clock for a spike before time expired.

The Commanders held a 27-13 fourth-quarter lead before quarterback Jameis Winston guided the Giants back into the game. He threw for 326 yards and three touchdowns, including two late scoring connections that helped New York force overtime.
Looking ahead to Week 6, Washington (1-3-1) will travel to face the San Francisco 49ers on Monday, while the Giants (3-1-1) will return home to host the New Orleans Saints next Sunday.
