The Michigan football team and their fans were treated to a memorable day of action on September 12 when the Wolverines upset No. 11-ranked Oklahoma in the Big House, and arch-rival Ohio State football lost 24-23 to Texas in Austin.

Head coach Kyle Whittingham, who recently announced a key injury update, used the win as an opportunity to cement QB Bryce Underwood's status as the team's starter and later joined an interview to share his unfiltered thoughts on the Longhorns' upset win.

Whittingham was asked if he got some joy watching Ohio State “choke away that lead in the fourth quarter” by Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy and whether he “got some fun” out of it.

“I did see the fourth quarter; it surprised me, you know, and congrats to Sark (Texas coach Steve Sarkisian) and his crew. I know Sark very well, and that was amazing; that comeback was amazing, and I didn't see that happening. I thought the game was in the bag after three quarters,” Whittingham said.

“It was a perfect Michigan day, startin' with that win and watching that, doesn't get much better than that if you're a maize and blue fan,” Portnoy added, to which Whittingham quietly agreed.

The Wolverines climbed back into the AP Top 25 Poll after their upset of the Sooners while the Buckeyes fell to No. 6 after occupying the top spot prior to their loss to Texas. Whittingham and his team will have another chance to impress the pollsters on September 19 against UTEP, with Underwood expected to start the game and fans awaiting the potential debut of prized freshman Tommy Carr.
