Lasith Malinga, Paras Mhambrey and Carl Hopkinson will not be part of the Mumbai Indians men's coaching staff any longer in the IPL, the franchise announced on Thursday.
Malinga and Mhambrey were the team's bowling coaches while Hopkinson was the fielding coach. MI have not announced their replacements yet.
The move is part of a larger revamp of the franchise's coaching staff: MI had replaced their head coach Mahela Jayawardene with Kieron Pollard earlier in October.
Malinga had joined MI in October 2023 ahead of IPL 2024, while Mhambrey and Hopkinson came on board ahead of the 2025 season. This was Mhambrey's second stint with MI, having been with them from 2010 to 2017, too.
"Mumbai Indians extend their heartfelt gratitude to Lasith, Paras and Carl for their contributions to the team and the wider MI family," the franchise said in a statement. "Their commitment, the relationships they have built and the memories they have helped create will always be part of our journey."
MI were the first team to win the IPL five times - in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020 - but have not qualified for the final in the last six seasons. They finished ninth out of ten teams in IPL 2026.
The IPL 2027 player auction is on December 16 in Goa, and the deadline for teams to release and retain players is November 15.
