The Green Bay Packers suffered a 39-22 Week 1 loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. It was an unfortunate defeat, as the club held a slim lead going into the fourth quarter. But 22 unanswered points in the final stretch of the game led to the loss. Shortly after the game, Matt LaFleur discussed what happened.

Media members asked the 46-year-old head coach about his team experiencing another choke job, as that was the theme in the 2025-26 season. LaFleur didn't mince words and acknowledged that it is something the Packers have to fix,  according to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic. LaFleur expects to be questioned about Green Bay's inability to finish games until they prove otherwise.

“Matt LaFleur on the Packers' continued inability to finish: ‘It's gonna be a topic of conversation for all you guys until we do it,'” Schneidman reported.

The first half of the game went well for the Packers. Jordan Love found his guys early and often. The defense was playing the Vikings incredibly well. But in the end, Minnesota took control of the contest and ran away with it in the fourth quarter.

Green Bay struggled to run the ball. With Josh Jacobs out for who knows how long as he is in the middle of an alleged domestic violence dispute, the Packers turned to MarShawn Llloyd. However, Lloyd was largely ineffective, finishing the matchup with just 37 yards off 13 attempts, giving him a poor 2.8 yards per attempt average.
