49ers defensive end Nick Bosa is out for Sunday’s game with a calf injury and he is expected to miss more time, so the team looked at a few options to bolster the position on Saturday.
The NFL’s daily transactions report shows that Matt Judon, Julian Okwara, Jamin Davis, and Dawuane Smoot all tried out for the team.
Judon played 13 games for the Dolphins and one game for the Bills last season. He did not have any sacks after recording 72 of them over his first nine NFL seasons. Smoot had two sacks for the Jaguars last year, Davis appeared in two games for the Raiders, and Okwara was out of the league after being released by the Browns in August.
The 49ers also placed wide receiver Damarcus Robinson on injured reserve and signed defensive lineman Viliami Fehoko to the 53-man roster. Defensive linemen Kevin Givens and Sebastian Valdez were elevated from the practice squad for Sunday’s game against the Cardinals.
