After a strong end to last season, Manchester United are looking to kick on again in the 2026/27 campaign. With Michael Carrick at the helm, there is a degree of optimism among the Old Trafford faithful that United could be on their way back as a major force in English and European football.

As the latest Manchester United odds show, Carrick's team are not among the outright favourites to win the Premier League title this term. Yet there are a variety of Man United odds and many different ways to place outright bets on them for the season ahead.

🏆 Odds on Man Utd to win the league

Here is the lay of the Premier League land according to the bookies:

*Odds correct at time of writing, and are subject to change.

It was a season of two halves for Manchester United in 2025/26. The first part was miserable, as Ruben Amorim's tenure came to an end around the turn of the year. United were sixth in the Premier League when Michael Carrick was appointed as the club's new interim manager. By the end of the season, they had risen to third and Carrick was handed the reins on a full-time basis.

The question now is whether United are capable of taking the next step and making a tilt at the Premier League title. Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have all appointed new managers more recently than United, who could benefit from relative continuity despite the fact Carrick has only been in the job since January.

On the other hand, there are greater demands on the United squad this season. They only played 40 games last term due to being absent from Europe and being knocked out of the domestic cups early. United are back in the Champions League and will almost certainly play upwards of 50 fixtures in 2026/27.

The opening month has gone badly. United have drifted from 18/1 to 50/1 after taking four points from their first four league games, and a Carabao Cup exit has already removed one of the routes to silverware. Arsenal and Manchester City remain the likeliest champions in 2026/27, and the gap has widened rather than closed.

🏆 How Man Utd can feature in the Premier League title race

These are some of the factors that will determine whether or not this is a successful season for The Red Devils.

👨‍💼 Man Utd’s current squad and manager

Manchester United's summer was a rebuild of the midfield. Casemiro left for MLS on the expiry of his contract, and three players came in to replace him. Carlos Baleba arrived from Brighton for £70million as the window's biggest signing, with Youri Tielemans adding creativity from Aston Villa and Andrey Santos bringing dynamism from Chelsea.

The attack is well stocked, with Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Šeško, Marcus Rashford and Amad Diallo all available and Bruno Fernandes supplying the ammunition. Rashford stayed put in the end, having been the name most linked with an exit. Question marks remain over the backline, not least because Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martínez are both injury-prone.

We are also finding out how Michael Carrick takes to the role on a permanent basis. Expectations were not particularly high when he initially replaced Amorim, but they were ramped up after United's strong finish to 2025/26, and Carrick is still comparatively inexperienced at this level. He was booed off at Old Trafford in September and said the responsibility was his.

Casemiro looked to be over the hill a couple of seasons ago, but he bounced back to shine in his final campaign at Old Trafford. Manchester United will miss his leadership and character, but Andrey Santos offers more mobility and Youri Tielemans is a fine tempo-setting passer.

Neither Jadon Sancho nor Tyrell Malacia is a big loss, while Karl Darlow arrives as a back-up goalkeeper. Carrick wanted a centre-back, another midfielder and a left-back before the window shut. He got the midfielder in Baleba and nothing else, which leaves the defence looking much as it did last season, and that is the area the early results have exposed.

🗓️ Key fixtures in the 2026/27 season

Manchester United faced two promoted teams first up and took only three points from them, losing 2-0 at Hull before beating Ipswich 5-2 with a Bruno Fernandes hat-trick. The derby followed, and City won 1-0 at Old Trafford despite playing 67 minutes with ten men after Phil Foden's red card.

Three days later came the heaviest blow. United led Brighton 2-0 inside ten minutes in the Carabao Cup third round through Shea Lacey and Mason Mount, then lost 3-2 to goals from Charalampos Kostoulas, Pascal Gross and Maxim De Cuyper.

The first clash with arch-rivals Liverpool is scheduled for November 21. United's last game before Christmas is a tricky trip to the Emirates Stadium to meet Arsenal, who visit Old Trafford on February 27. Manchester City host their neighbours on March 20, but the run-in looks favourable for United, whose final eight fixtures include just one game against a team that finished in the top half of the Premier League last term.

Manchester United odds in other outright markets

If you do not think they have what it takes to win the Premier League title, there are plenty of Man Utd odds available in other outright markets. We have explored some of the options from our top football betting sites below.

🥇 Man Utd trophy multiples

Manchester United have continued to pick up trophies since Alex Ferguson's departure, even though they have not come close to winning the Premier League or Champions League.

Odds are offered on United winning more than one piece of silverware, which they have managed once since Ferguson's retirement, taking the League Cup and the Europa League in 2016/17. It is rare rather than unheard of.

The domestic cup route has narrowed considerably. United are out of the Carabao Cup at the first hurdle, beaten at home by a rotated Brighton side, which leaves the FA Cup and the Champions League as the only two ways this lands. That is why the price has moved from 2/1 out to 7/2.

🏆 Champions League winner

United are back in Europe's elite competition for the first time in three seasons, and the fixture list has not been kind. Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Villarreal are all on the schedule in a league phase that will test a squad unused to midweek travel.

That is also the argument for the price. United played 40 games last season and will play upwards of 50 this time, which is a burden in the league but an opportunity in a competition that now rewards depth across eight league-phase fixtures before the knockouts begin.

Nobody is suggesting this is likely on current form. But a club with three European Cups, back at this level with a settled front three and a manager who turned a sixth-place side into a third-place one inside half a season, is a different proposition over two legs in February than it looks in September.

🥇 Top North West club

Manchester United were the second top-performing North West club last season, finishing behind Manchester City but ahead of Liverpool and Everton. With City and Liverpool both under new management this term, there was an opportunity for United to be the strongest side in their region in 2026/27.

The early weeks have gone the other way. City have won everything, and United's four points from four have pushed this price out from 15/8 to 8/1. Liverpool have not started quickly either under Andoni Iraola, which is the case for United still being second of the three, but the market has stopped treating this as a two-horse race.

🏅Top scorer

To the surprise of no one, Erling Haaland is once again the favourite to win the Golden Boot, but United have four realistic candidates in Benjamin Šeško, Bryan Mbeumo, Bruno Fernandes and Matheus Cunha.

Rashford stayed at the club, so he is in the conversation too, but Fernandes is the one with momentum after a hat-trick against Ipswich, though a midfielder winning the Golden Boot would be a first in the Premier League era.

FAQs about Man Utd ahead of the 2026/27 season

1. Who are likely to become Man Utd’s key players as they aim to fight for the Premier League title?

Bruno Fernandes will be essential to Manchester United's prospects this season. The Portugal international was among the division's leading providers in 2025/26, and he will be central to United's attacking efforts once again. His hat-trick against Ipswich remains the high point of their season so far.

2. Who are likely to be Man Utd’s main rivals in the Premier League top-four race and other domestic competitions?

The Premier League title will probably be out of reach for Manchester United this season, so the priority will be securing another top-four finish. Arsenal and Manchester City should both qualify for the Champions League, so United will be competing with the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur for a place in the top four.

3. When are the best times to lock in the best odds for Man Utd in the markets mentioned in this article?

The odds on Man Utd to win the league and finish in the top four shift throughout the season in response to on-field and off-field events, and the opening month has shown how fast that happens. Defeat at Hull lengthened United, the five put past Ipswich pulled them back in, and a derby defeat followed by a cup exit has taken them out to 50/1.

The best approach is to check the odds regularly and be ready to place your bet when you see a price you like. United's fixtures are the thing to watch: their final eight games include just one against a side that finished in the top half last season, so the run-in is where a top-four price could look generous.
