A few days ago on the Sept. 14, 2026 edition of WWE's Monday Night RAW in Mexico City, Roman Reigns defended his World Heavyweight Championship against Penta. Following a heavily praised match lasting over 20-minutes, Reigns was able to defend his title.

Despite losing the championship in his country of Mexico, Penta received a warm and loud response from the crowd. While Reigns celebrated his title defense in the ring, Penta crawled to the back demanding a rematch.

Unfortunately for fans waiting to see a rematch, it won't be happening anytime soon. As per WrestleVotes on Fightful Select, an immediate rematch between the two has not been planned by WWE. Although the promotion has something else in mind.

The report further explored that WWE now believes that, based on the reception they received and behind the scenes, Reigns vs. Penta is a match they can re-run anytime, with the chances of headlining even a PLE.

WrestleVotes on Fightful Select also reported that following his WWE title match on RAW, many in the promotion now believe that Penta deserves the opportunity to remain on top and establish himself as a main-eventer.

Penta made his WWE debut last year in Jan. 2025 and soon emerged as one of the top faces in the promotion. Following a successful AEW run, Penta joined WWE. Shortly after, he was part of several high-profile matches and even won the WWE Intercontinental Championship before losing it to Chad Gable at WWE SummerSlam 2026. Penta was soon followed by his brother Rey Fenix in WWE.
