Emotions were high on Saturday night, as LSU football's head coach Lane Kiffin returned to Mississippi to play Ole Miss. Kiffin left Ole Miss to coach at LSU. The Rebels would go on to defeat the Tigers, 32-24.
A LSU coach got into it with the Ole Miss student section, but it wasn't Kiffin. It was actually LSU running backs coach Kevin Smith.
âÂÂLSUâÂÂs Kevin Smith says the best RBs to come through Ole Miss are because of him,â Bleacher Report posted to Instagram. âÂÂSmith spent a total of 5 seasons as the Rebelsâ RB coach.âÂÂ
There was also video posted of Smith engaging with the crowd. Smith was one of several former Ole Miss coaches who went to Baton Rouge with Kiffin.
There was quite a lot of jawing between the Ole Miss student section and LSU personnel. An LSU player also engaged with the student section, walking by them and talking to the crowd. That player is familiar to Ole Miss fans.

âÂÂI told our team, âÂÂI don't think anybody came here to beat LSU,'â Ole Miss head coach Pete Golding said, per ESPN. âÂÂThat's not what our goal was coming in. Yes, is it sweet? Absolutely. Go enjoy tonight. But we've got to come back to work. ⦠It wasn't our Super Bowl, and we didn't make it out to be our Super Bowl.âÂÂ
The Rebels got a great performance out of their quarterback, Trinidad Chambliss. He threw for 363 passing yards and two touchdowns.
âÂÂThis one meant a lot more than other games,â Chambliss said. âÂÂThe coaches that were here, now at LSU â and some players as well â we've just been looking forward to it. I wanted this one really bad.âÂÂ
Ole Miss is now 3-0 on the season.
