Liverpool vs Tottenham Hotspur quick tips

Liverpool vs Tottenham Hotspur predictions

Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have both endured frustrating starts to the new season.

The Reds were held to a 0-0 draw by Fulham at the weekend, meaning they have won just one of their first four Premier League fixtures in 2026/27.

Tottenham’s record is even worse. They too were involved in a scoreless stalemate at the weekend, drawing 0-0 with Everton - a result which moved them onto two points from a possible 12.

This meeting on Tuesday gives both teams the chance to boost their confidence ahead of the final round of Premier League fixtures before the extended international break.

The EFL Cup offers Liverpool and Spurs a potential route to silverware this term, so neither Andoni Iraola nor Roberto De Zerbi should turn their nose up at this tournament.

Liverpool have had more to cheer so far this term, but there have been a few teething problems as Andoni Iraola gets to grips with the job.

There are clearly holes in the squad too, with question marks over the defence and the midfield. Florian Wirtz, meanwhile, continues to flatter to deceive.

As for Tottenham, a summer spending spree has yet to improve on-field results. De Zerbi is not under pressure yet, but he needs results to turn sooner rather than later.

Liverpool vs Tottenham Hotspur tips

Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur will face off in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night.

Reds to bounce back

Liverpool underwhelmed in the 0-0 draw with Fulham last time out, but this will be a different type of game.

Fulham had been open defensively in their first few outings of the campaign, but they dug in well at the weekend. A Roberto De Zerbi team is unlikely to adopt the same sort of defence-first approach.

That should suit Liverpool, who have looked their most dangerous this season when they are given space in which to play.

Tottenham Hotspur are low on confidence right now and the fact Liverpool are playing at home is another factor in their favour.

Spurs struggling in attack

Roberto De Zerbi is an attack-minded manager. When his teams click, they are capable of playing some fantastic football.

We have seen little evidence of that at Tottenham Hotspur, however. They were very flat in the goalless draw with Everton on Saturday.

Liverpool have not been entirely convincing defensively, but Tottenham’s frontline has posed too little a threat to opposition backlines up to now.

The Reds should get to half-time without conceding, and we like their chances of finding the back of the net in the opening 45 minutes too.

Isak on target?

Florian Wirtz had a tough debut campaign at Liverpool and we are yet to see signs of an upturn in 2026/27.

It is still early days, of course, but Wirtz is struggling to influence games and he could be rotated out of the starting XI here.

It has been easier to spot positives in Alexander Isak’s early performances this term. He is not yet back to his best, but the Sweden international certainly looks sharper than he did last season.

Provided he starts, there is a good chance Isak will make the net bulge in this one.
