The Detroit Lions escaped Ford Field with a 31-30 overtime win over the New Orleans Saints that had a little bit of everything, including three dropped passes from star receiver Jameson Williams that got under the skin of fans. The Lions survived what looked like a crucial Saints strip-sack that was called back.

Afterward, coach Dan Campbell revealed that he isn't worried about the Lions' defense after giving up 30 points, but the offense was a whole different story. Detroit averaged 5.1 yards per play and amassed nearly 400 yards, a decent first outing, but it was marred by Williams' mistakes.

Lions star QB Jared Goff maintained a positive attitude, choosing to highlight the good parts of Williams' performance after the game.

“I'm not worried about him in the slightest,” Goff said. “I gotta be a little better for him. So proud of him late…Game's on the line, I find him on the sidelines, and he makes the play that was the difference.”

Despite his drops, Williams still made a big sideline catch in overtime that set up the Lions' game-winning touchdown.

Four players caught more than four passes for Goff and Campbell's Lions, while running back Jahmyr Gibbs lived up to his splashy offseason contract signing with 156 yards on the ground.

Campbell's team is still a work-in-progress, especially as it waits for the returns of star safeties Brian Branch and Kerby Joseph, who both missed the game. A September 17 road game at Buffalo will test the Lions to their limits, a challenge Campbell and company appear ready for as the season moves into Week 2 and the contenders start to get separated from the pretenders.
