Coach Dan Campbell's Detroit Lions are 3-2 on the season and last place in the NFC North amid controversial Sam LaPorta comments about not having a contract extension. Campbell and the Lions need LaPorta and the passing attack, led by Jared Goff and a brutally honest Jameson Williams, to beat the Green Bay Packers in Week 7's showdown at Ford Field.
Campbell mirrored LaPorta's frustration in a press conference leading up to the game as he made an accusation about a Lions reporter who kept bringing up the situation involving his tight end. He refused to answer a question about LaPorta and walked off the podium as he became upset.
“I said I don't want it to become a distraction, now it is because you keep asking these things,” Campbell said.

LaPorta ranks second on the Lions in receiving yards behind Amon-Ra St. Brown with 316 on the season, just ahead of Williams, who has 276 receiving yards. Running back Jahmyr Gibbs is also over the 200-yard mark so far this season and second-year man Isaac TeSlaa is knocking on the door with 187 receiving yards.
Article Continues BelowNew offensive coordinator Evan Petzing has helped unleash Jared Goff and the Lions' passing attack, but the Lions' Kelvin Sheppard-led defense has been shredded throughout the season as they await the return of star safety Kerby Joseph.
The Lions and coach Campbell are in a pressure cooker at the bottom of arguably the NFL's toughest division and need the offensive to score big against the Packers, Chicago Bears and other top quality opposition. Campbell venting his frustrations could be a good thing for the Lions as they seem to play their best when their coach and players have a chip on their respective shoulders, something that fans will see on full display against the Packers in Week 7.
