On Sunday, the Detroit Lions hit the field at home for a key NFC North showdown against the Minnesota Vikings. The Lions were looking to build off their momentum from last week's win over the Green Bay Packers and hand the Vikings their first loss of the season in the process.

Unfortunately, the Lions didn't make it through this game unscathed from an injury perspective, as two members of their defense suffered the same injury in this one.

“#Lions Injury Update: EDGE DJ Wonnum (Concussion) has been downgraded to Out. DB Brian Branch (Concussion) has been downgraded to Out,” reported the team on its official account on X, formerly Twitter.

Earlier in the game, wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown had been evaluated for a concussion, but thankfully was cleared to return to the game, having suffered his own injury on a play in which a touchdown was wiped from the board after replay review.

Meanwhile, Branch only recently returned to the field after missing the first several games of this season, having torn his Achilles down the stretch of last season.

If Wonnum and Branch are forced to miss extended time with their concussions, it would certainly be a tough break for a Lions defense that was just starting to round into form this season.

In any case, at the conclusion of the Vikings game, the Lions will hit the field next week on the road vs the lowly Miami Dolphins. Kickoff for that game is set for 1:00 pm ET.
