Lionel Messi can win another trophy at Inter Miami whilst playing for a different former teammate this week.
Inter Miami announced towards the end of August that they reached an agreement with Cristian 'Kily' Gonzalez regarding their vacancy.
Gonzalez has now officially arrived in Florida and begun his duties at the MLS club.
He has become the permanent successor to Javier Mascherano, who surprisingly resigned as head coach for personal reasons in April.
Mascherano made 414 appearances alongside Messi for the Argentina national team, their Olympic side and Barcelona.
They then won the MLS Eastern Conference and MLS Cup when the former was boss, with a new but fellow familiar face now in charge.
Gonzalez is in his fourth managerial role at Inter Miami after spells at Rosario Central, Union de Santa Fe and Club Atletico Platense.
Formerly a winger at clubs including Boca Juniors, Valencia and Inter Milan, he scored ten goals across 56 appearances for Argentina.
Two of his caps were won with Messi, with both coming during their qualification campaign for the 2006 World Cup.
Gonzalez is now set to work with the football icon yet again, this time in a different capacity as his head coach at Inter Miami.
His touchline debut comes on Wednesday night as they face Mexican side Cruz Azul in the 2026 Campeones Cup final.
The annual exhibition match is contested by the MLS champions and Mexican super cup (Campeon de Campeones) winners.
