Lionel Messi has updated his list of football's 10 future stars with Arsenal's Max Dowman among two Premier League players named.
Shortly after his emotional farewell to international football, the 39-year-old has fittingly picked the youngsters who he believes will shape the game's next generation.
Messi has previously highlighted the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Phil Foden, Jadon Sancho and Mason Mount as his top wonderkids.
Six years on from his original list, the Inter Miami superstar is now in his third iteration of naming the young stars he is tipping for the top.
Messi’s 10 future stars he believes are football's ‘next chapter’
Can Uzun
The Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder is one of the more senior names on Messi's list despite still only being at the tender age of 20.
The German-born 10-cap Turkey international has scored 19 goals and provided 12 assists in 65 Bundesliga matches thus far in his career.
Tomás Aranda
Messi has named just one of his compatriots in his new list, with Boca Juniors talent Aranda earning rave reviews back in Argentina.
The 19-year-old only made his professional debut in January but was handed his senior international debut five months later.
Aranda had registered one assist in six league games for his club since the World Cup before he fractured a fibula in his right leg.
Max Dowman
The future of Arsenal is fresh from receiving three Guinness World Record certificates as a reward for his historic debut season.
The teenager, who made his senior debut in August 2025, became the Premier League’s youngest ever goalscorer last year en route to helping the Gunners win their first top-flight title for 22 years.
Dowman, who was drafted into first-team training at age 14, has been tipped by Simon Jordan to become a world-beater like Lamine Yamal.
The England Under-19 international, whose heroics last season have seen John Terry and Henry Winter already compare him to Messi and Kaka, has already made an imperious start to the new campaign.
The 16-year-old earned the Carabao Cup Player of the Round award following his two goals against Ipswich last month, which saw him join an exclusive club alongside Wayne Rooney.
Gilberto Mora
The 17-year-old Mexican, one of the breakout stars at Liga MX club Tijuana, has been strongly linked with both Arsenal and Liverpool.
The attacking midfielder underlined his status as his country's top talent by starting the 3-2 defeat against England at the Azteca in July.
In the round before, Mora became the youngest starter in a World Cup knockout tie after Pele, across the four appearances he made.
Since returning from the tournament, he has scored five goals and registered an assist in seven outings for his boyhood club.
Zavier Gozo
The 19-year-old has been rewarded for making the step up to the Premier League with his first senior appearance for the US national team.
Crystal Palace signed the highly-rated American prospect from Real Salt Lake for a reported £11.1million in August.
Gozo, who made his MLS debut as a 16-year-old in October 2023, scored six goals in RSL's first 16 league games of the year.
He endured a baptism of fire on his Premier League bow by coming off the bench in the 4-1 defeat to Manchester City, and has also enjoyed a late cameo in the 3-2 loss to Ipswich Town last month.
Jesús Rodríguez
The 20-year-old is hoping to go from strength to strength under Arsenal and Chelsea legend Cesc Fabregas at Como in Italy.
The two-cap Spain international started the club's first Serie A game of the season but has since had to make do with a substitute role.
Rodriguez is still waiting on his first goal contribution across four outings, and was even sent-off for Spain's Under-21s last month.
The ex-Real Betis talent, who scored twice and registered nine assists in 31 Serie A games last year, set up Mario Martin's goal for 12-0 against San Marino before he saw red a few minutes later.
Kees Smit
Earlier this year, Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand told talkSPORT that he didn't want his old club to miss out on Smit.
The 20-year-old Netherlands midfielder had previously been named as one of the stars to watch in Europe at the start of last season.
talkSPORT even revealed that Newcastle and Crystal Palace were competing with Real Madrid to sign the AZ Alkmaar star.
However, no summer move to the Premier League transpired, and Smit has registered two assists in five Eredivisie matches this term.
Chloe Sarwie
Messi also named three future stars of women's football in his list, with Chelsea's Sarwie the headline selection for England fans.
The 17-year-old made seven senior appearances for Chelsea last season and was in the Lionesses squad for the Under-20 World Cup.
Giovanna Waksman
The Brazilian youth international only joined OL Lyonnes in March, having first come through the ranks at Botafogo in her homeland.
The 17-year-old is still waiting for her first senior appearance at club level this season but is in double digits for goals for Brazil's U17s.
Lotta Wrede
The 18-year-old has made three appearances in the Frauen-Bundesliga this season with her childhood Hamburg outfit.
The club's No.32 has also scored three times in nine appearances for Germany's Under-19s and has been linked with a move to Barcelona.
