Lamar Jackson: Declan Doyle was dialing it up

Quarterback Lamar Jackson said earlier this month that he does not “believe a defense is prepared for what’s in store for them” when facing a Ravens offense coordinated by Declan Doyle and it certainly didn’t look like the Colts were prepared in Week 1.

The Ravens rolled up 506 yards in Sunday’s 41-23 road win. Jackson threw for 324 yards and a touchdown while running for 40 yards and another score. That effort was aided by Derrick Henry’s 144 yards and three touchdowns and wideout Zay Flowers had 150 receiving yards before getting injured in the second quarter, so it’s no surprise that Jackson credited Doyle for “dialing it up” during his postgame press conference.

“I thought Declan, man, first NFL game [calling plays], came out of the gates on fire. Did a great job,” head coach Jesse Minter said.

Teams will now have a little better idea of what’s coming their way when they face the Ravens, but knowing what’s coming and stopping a healthy Jackson and Henry are two very different things.
